Pumpkins

We've had so much rain, so much cold, I'm itching to get outside. But that's fall for ya, isn't it? We had a break in the precipitation, so I loaded the kids up and headed to the pumpkin patch. It was very muddy, but I'm not afraid of mud. It was chilly, but we bundled up. The only thing that spoiled our outing was that everything was so expensive there. They had a bouncy thing; looked like fun. But it was $4 a person. Yeah, I don't think so. And the pumpkins were $5 and up and half of them were rotten. So we found a bin full of gourds for 50 cents a piece and I told them they could pick any one they wanted! And when they couldn't decide I let them buy two! "Really? We can have two!?" I'm such a generous mom.
FYI- Gourds are hard to carve.

4

Can it be? Four years have passed? It seems like it was yesterday, when we were impatiently waiting for her arrival. I remember vividly the nurses wheeling me down the hall to the OR, when it hit me that we would not be bringing this baby home with us. I began to cry, I began to pray.
I didn't know who she was then. At that time, she wasn't our little Goosie. I had never seen her beautiful face, or held onto her teeny fingers. I had no idea of the years ahead of us, and of what joy she would bring.  All I knew in that moment is that I was scared to death of loosing our baby before I had the chance to meet her.

God answered that prayer.

She decided that she misses being three. "Can we start over with our numbers?"

Kassandra's pics

Any excuse  to take a walk down the pathways, right? We loaded up the kids and set out, our goal being to take Kassandra's senior pictures. The yearbook shot is only due in a week, but hey, it's no fun unless you wait till the last minute, right? It's not like I didn't see her all summer.

You can tell that my kids have had a lot of pictures taken of them. Every time she sat down, they crowded around her to get in the shot. (that, and they love her)

The boys have been in another drawing phase lately. They didn't want to go because they wanted to stay home and draw. "Take it with you."
 "Really?"
Well, why not? I can't think of a better place to sketch.

he doesn't need help

I got a few neat pictures of Courtney, too, while we were there.

And, yes, Kassandra's turned out great. But you'll have to go HERE to see them.

(An old one that I just found that never got published)
Might as well share it now.
