Snowmen

"Take your hat off so I can get a nice picture of you."
"No. I like my hat and I'm not ashamed of it."

It was another gorgeous day.
The sun was shining.
The snow was perfect for snowmen making.
Tony is not afraid to jump right in and play with the kids, no matter the weather. I have gotten lazy over the years and the cold scares me away. I am perfectly content with my excuse to have to stay with the baby in the house. But this day, I couldn't resist. I didn't get my hands wet, mind you. But I was out there.

He's happy now, because Daddy helped him finish his snowman, but a few minutes earlier, he was crying because it didn't have a head.
"Then make a head."
"I did but Jacob ate it!"

The finished product was pretty impressive.

Let it snow!

Well, it snowed, and snowed, and SNOWED here today. I'm so glad I had no where to go. It was warm, though, so the kids were able to enjoy it. Anne and Dave came over to plow for us and made a HUGE hill that was begging for some climbers.

Don't ask me what her problem was. Snow in her boots, I guess. Who knows with her.

She wanted to bring this snowball in the house with her. What's a little snow in the house?

Aliyah and Livy came over for a visit, too. Sorry, Kathy, if she comes home with frostbite. I just couldn't get those girls to come in.

Good Daddy

Have you missed me? Oh, you didn't even know I was gone, did you? Well, it's been over a week now that my computer has been very, very sick. Poor thing. It's spent a few nights at the computer hospital and we should be able to pick it up tomorrow. I've missed it very much, I think maybe I'll throw it a little welcome home party. Any excuse for cake.
Tonight, Tony let me use his teeny, tiny notebook to do a little blog surfing and maybe a facebook visit. I'm not sure if this mini computer is even worth the effort, but, like I said, it's been over a week since I've been online, and you know me. On the positive side- I'm well rested. :)

Monday, February 15, 2010

It's been such a cold winter, the kids haven't spent much time outside playing in the snow. But it was a bit warmer today so I bundled the babies up, and rounded up the boys and we headed out. Oh, not for long, but it felt good to get some fresh air. This was Joshua's first real outing. He's been out long enough to get back and forth to the car, but that's it. He wasn't real impressed. I guess it's not a whole lot of fun when you can't move because you're snowsuit is too puffy.

"Look! I got big one deez snow!"

Love, Laughter, and Tears

Just a few random pics that I haven't gotten around to posting yet...

I'm still getting used to my new lens (it's manual focus) so I always have a few that turn out like this- not only do I miss the focus on the subject, but there is not one thing in the whole photo that is in focus. But sometimes, even through all the blurriness, you get a shot that captures such great emotion, that it almost looks like that's the look you were going for.
Yeah, yeah, that's it, I meant to do it this way.
Can't you just hear her laughing, though?

He must be getting new teeth, don't you think? This boy bites everything.

But sure doesn't like it when he is told "no!"

Naughty Boy

Spelling

The boys don't need any help with their spelling (unlike their mother) but we had a great idea for a little project to help study our words.
You start with craft close pins,

Paint them black,

Wash up while the paint dries,

Glue some googly eyes on and tape a paper cutout of your spelling words to your close pins and you have something that looks like a caterpillar.

Put them in a jar of your choice, (you don't want them crawling all over the house, do you?)

And when a word is mastered, slip on it's wings,

And hang up for everyone to enjoy.

More work than it's worth? Yeah, maybe, but it was fun.

Big Accident

There was a pop tart incident this morning. A train was derailed and held up traffic for hours, but luckily no one was seriously hurt.

Did I forget to tell you? Amy and I have started up our month on theme blog again. This time we promise not to quit halfway through. ;)
Go check it out.
